Phase 1: HPSC HCS Preliminary Examination 2024

Important Points
- Both question papers will be objective-type (multiple choice) questions, with each paper lasting two hours.
- There will be bilingual question papers, meaning they will be in both Hindi and English.
- One-fourth (O.25) of a mark will be subtracted for each incorrect response.
- The Civil Services Aptitude Test, or Paper II, is a qualifying exam with a minimum qualifying score of 33%.
- The preliminary examination result will be determined only by the marks received in Paper I if the candidate has received a score of at least 33% in the Civil Services Aptitude Test (Paper II).

Note: Candidates who do not receive a minimum of forty-five percent (45%) in the aggregate score of all written papers and a minimum of thirty-three percent (33%) in each of the compulsory papers—Hindi (including Hindi essay) in Devnagri script and English (including English essay)—will not be called for the viva-voce/personality test. The ultimate decision will be made using the merit list, which will be created based on the candidates’ combined scores from the Main Written Exam and the Personality Test/Viva-Voce, or out of 675 marks.
